A Volontariat is a structured post-graduate phase in which university graduates are systematically introduced into a profession. Classically it takes place in media (editorial, publishing, broadcasting), foundations, museums and large NGOs. Unlike an internship it usually lasts 18 to 24 months, is paid and ideally ends with a permanent offer.
In terms of content, the Volontariat relies on structured rotation: trainees pass through different departments or topics, learning methods, standards and ways of working. A curriculum with seminars, coaching and reflection phases is common – for example in journalistic Volontariat programmes with recognised academies.
Pay is moderate but higher than for internships. Collective agreements set clear minimum standards in some industries. Examining the concrete content and training quality matters – strong houses advertise clear curricula, weak providers use the Volontariat more as cheap labour.
Lunigi plays a role after the Volontariat – the second role can be targeted in the AI-safe space.
