Hiring Test

Standardised test that assesses knowledge, logic and personality, often used in selection processes for large employers.

Hiring tests are standardised instruments that allow employers to compare candidates on a common scale. They are most common where applicant volumes are high or where roles demand specific logical, accuracy or stress-handling skills – for example in banking, the public sector, police, military and technical apprenticeships.

Typical content includes general knowledge, mathematics, verbal reasoning, logical thinking, spatial reasoning, concentration and personality tests. Well-known instruments include GMA, Wonderlic and the Bochum Personality Inventory. Tests are often deliberately tight on time – not all tasks are meant to be completed.

Good preparation involves exercises from preparation books or online platforms, regular reading of news for general knowledge, and timed practice. Personality tests cannot be "passed" – authenticity beats tactical answers because responses are checked for internal consistency.

In the German public sector, hiring tests are central to many selection processes. Lunigi delivers matching roles from this sector and flags early if a test will be part of the process.
