Social Work

Professional help and support for people in difficult life situations, across diverse fields and sectors.

Social work is the professional help and support of people in difficult life situations. It combines social-science knowledge, methodological competence and ethical stance. Fields range from youth welfare to addiction counselling, debt counselling, migration, homelessness, family work, schools, hospitals or correctional services.

In Germany, "Soziale Arbeit" is established as a study programme at universities of applied sciences (bachelor and master). Professional state recognition is usually granted through the university and is a prerequisite for many tasks. Collective coverage is common in the public sector (TVöD-SuE) and in the social-services sector (AVR Caritas, AVR Diakonie).

Demand in social work is structurally high – skills shortages, demographic change and rising social complexity create many open positions. Career changes are possible, often via recognition procedures and adjustment measures.

Lunigi specifically addresses the social sector – curated roles, often with clear collective coverage and concrete value indicators.
