Education Officer (Bildungsreferent:in)

Person responsible for designing, organising and delivering educational programmes in adult education and welfare bodies.

Education officers (Bildungsreferent:innen) are responsible for designing, organising and delivering educational programmes – in adult education, welfare associations, foundations, trade unions, NGOs or municipal education bodies. They plan seminars, conferences, training paths and programmes, recruit speakers, raise funding and steer quality.

The profession is broad. Tasks range from political education to vocational further training, language and integration courses, diversity trainings and cultural programmes. Many roles are collectively bargained – in public education under TVöD or TV-L, in church-affiliated bodies under AVR Caritas or AVR Diakonie.

Entry routes commonly include social-science or pedagogical degrees combined with practical experience in educational formats or project work. Career changes from adjacent fields such as journalism, consulting or management are possible if educational understanding and didactic experience are present.

Lunigi specifically addresses this profession – curated roles from education and the social sector are a Lunigi focus.
