Application Portfolio

The bundled set of documents in a written job application – today most often a single PDF.

The application portfolio is the bundled collection of all written application documents. Classically it includes the cover letter, the CV, attachments such as references and certificates, and a cover sheet with photo. Today most portfolios are submitted digitally as a single PDF with clear ordering and a file size below 5 MB.

The conventional order in the PDF is: cover letter, CV, optionally a statement of motivation or cover sheet, followed by references from newest to oldest – the most recent employer reference first, then older positions, finally school and university certificates. Certificates from further training, language exams or volunteering complement the portfolio if they are relevant to the role.

Clean scans, consistent fonts and a uniform layout are non-negotiable. Blurry phone photos of references or inconsistent design feel unprofessional. Many online application forms ask for individual files – the portfolio as a whole carries less weight, but a polished CV remains central.

Lunigi simplifies the path from a maintained profile to the final portfolio, since matched roles already align with the candidate's own profile.
